1. Our Commitment to Accessibility

At Bagdock, we believe that everyone should have equal access to our storage booking platform, regardless of their abilities or the technologies they use. We are committed to providing an inclusive digital experience that empowers all users to find, book, and manage storage with ease and dignity.

Accessibility is not just a legal requirement - it's a core value. We recognise that approximately 1 in 5 people in the UK have a disability, and many more experience temporary or situational limitations. By designing for accessibility, we create a better experience for everyone.

This Accessibility Statement outlines our efforts to ensure Bagdock is accessible to people with diverse abilities, including those who:

  • Use screen readers or other assistive technologies
  • Navigate using keyboards or alternative input devices
  • Have visual impairments, including colour blindness
  • Have hearing impairments or are deaf
  • Have cognitive or learning disabilities
  • Have motor disabilities or use mobility aids
  • Are neurodiverse
  • Experience temporary impairments or situational limitations

Our Goal: To meet or exceed Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and provide an excellent user experience for all customers and storage partners.

2. Accessibility Standards & Compliance

2.1 WCAG 2.1 Level AA

We aim to conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, an internationally recognised standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 is organised around four principles:

1. Perceivable

Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive. This includes providing text alternatives for images, captions for videos, and ensuring content is distinguishable.

2. Operable

User interface components and navigation must be operable. This includes making all functionality available from a keyboard, giving users enough time to complete tasks, and helping users navigate and find content.

3. Understandable

Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable. This includes making text readable and predictable, and helping users avoid and correct mistakes.

4. Robust

Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies. This includes using valid HTML and ARIA attributes.

2.2 UK Legal Requirements

We comply with the UK Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018. We regularly review our platform against these requirements.

2.3 Testing & Audits

We conduct regular accessibility audits using:

  • Automated testing tools (Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE)
  • Manual testing with screen readers and assistive technologies
  • User testing with people with disabilities
  • Third-party accessibility audits
  • Code reviews with accessibility checklists

3. Accessibility Features

3.1 Keyboard Navigation

  • Full Keyboard Access: All features and content can be accessed using only a keyboard
  • Logical Tab Order: Tab key moves through interactive elements in a logical sequence
  • Visible Focus Indicators: Clear visual indicators show which element has keyboard focus
  • Skip Links: "Skip to main content" links allow quick navigation past repetitive elements
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Common shortcuts work as expected (e.g., Escape to close modals)

  • Semantic HTML: Proper use of headings, landmarks, lists, and other semantic elements
  • ARIA Labels: Descriptive labels for interactive elements, buttons, and form controls

3.3 Visual Accessibility

  • Resizable Text: Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of functionality or content
  • Responsive Design: Content adapts to different screen sizes and orientations
  • No Colour-Only Information: We never rely on colour alone to convey information
  • Clear Typography: Legible fonts with appropriate sizing and spacing

5. Third-Party Content & Integrations

Bagdock integrates with third-party services to provide essential functionality (payment processing, mapping, analytics). While we strive to ensure these integrations are accessible, we do not have direct control over the accessibility of third-party content.

5.1 Payment Providers

Our payment processing is handled by trusted, PCI-compliant providers who maintain their own accessibility standards. If you experience difficulty with payment forms, please contact us for assistance.

5.2 Maps & Location Services

We provide text-based alternatives to map interfaces, including searchable lists of storage locations with full address details and distance information.

5.3 Storage Partner Content

Storage partners provide facility descriptions, images, and other content. We provide guidelines to partners on creating accessible content, but cannot guarantee the accessibility of all partner-generated content. If you need assistance accessing partner content, please contact us.

6. Known Limitations & Current Work

We are committed to transparency about areas where we're still improving. The following known limitations are being actively addressed:

Current Focus Areas

  • Improving colour contrast ratios in some secondary UI elements
  • Enhancing mobile screen reader experience for complex forms
  • Providing more detailed audio descriptions for facility images
  • Expanding keyboard shortcuts for power users
  • Improving live region announcements for real-time updates

We update this list regularly as we identify and resolve accessibility issues. If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let us know.
